Getting started
Via the Netlog Application Platform and its API's, developers can plug into the Netlog community and build truly social applications. Our API's and syndicated content provide access to a user's data; his profile data and their social graph. Here's the basic steps to getting your app running on Netlog:
- Make sure you have a Netlog account in the distro of your choice (e.g. EN, NL ...).
- Check our application guidelines.
- Get to know the OpenSocial API.
- Build your application (perhaps even working with Netlog's credit extention!)
- Test your application in our sandbox.
- Get in touch to get your app moderated and distributed in the Netlog community.
What tools would you like to use?
JavaScript / HTML: OpenSocial
Netlog supports the OpenSocial 0.8 standard, making it easy for JavaScript and HTML developers to build applications for Netlog, as well as leverage existing OpenSocial applications to the Netlog community.
Actionscript 3
If you're a Flash developer, we've made available a Flash component that nicely wraps our REST API functions for you to call. Read more about developing Flash applications.
PHP5 Client Library
If you want to access our REST API from PHP, we've written a php5 client library, that you can use to get you started. Read more about developing applications with PHP.
Syndication
Netlog syndicates most of its public content through RSS & iCal feeds. See which ones you could use to embed in your web and/or desktop application in the syndication overview.
